Our Top 3 Favourite Indoor Wedding Locations in the GTA (Really.)

December 9, 2019

Since 2009 we have been doing wedding photography and wedding cinematography for clients all across Ontario, and with over 200 weddings behind us, we have been to quite a few venues! We are often asked to share our top favourite venues in the GTA, so we’ve put together a list of our top 3 favourite indoor wedding locations in the GTA for you to peek at. We’ll share why we love the venue, what the food is like, where the local photography locations are, and have a peek at some of our favourite shots at the venues.

2nd Floor Events in Downtown Toronto

We absolutely love 2nd Floor Events, a downtown Toronto venue perfect for weddings with a small-to-medium sized guest list and looking for a glowy, cozy vibe. The space can be customized to look however you dream, but a few of its key backbone features really set it apart as a great space for every event.

The indoor ceremony location can comfortably seat your guests on beautiful and comfortable chairs. The aisle is wide enough for a bride with a large train or veil, and can be lined with beautiful decor or you can enjoy the stunning hardwood floor as this couple chose in the image below.

The front of the ceremony space can be customized but in this wedding features a stunning floral arch with work by Inspire Event Rental in Toronto.

This ombre wedding cake topped with pink and purple macarons by White Lotus Cakery in Toronto looks stunning in the unique bar at 2nd Floor Events, which sits inside the cocktail hour space, keeping guests well refreshed during the evening. I love how the decor team at 2nd Floor has made great use of live plants and greenery behind their bar, which brightens up the exposed brick and gives an earthy feel to this downtown Toronto wedding venue.

If you’re lucky enough to have great weather for your 2nd Floor Events wedding, you can take a walk around the local downtown Toronto streets to get some shots with the stunning brick buildings and the natural setting provided by Toronto’s city life.

Toronto Hunt Club in Scarborough

The Toronto Hunt Club is one of the unique Toronto wedding venues where a couple can get married right on the bluffs of Lake Ontario itself. Standing above the lake, a breeze blowing through the wind, is a stunning way to start a new life together – rain or shine. The wedding below took place on a rainy fall day in Toronto, and even the overcast sky couldn’t bring down the look of this absolutely stunning venue. The decor by Blush and Bowties added a unique touch to the day, and accented the classic, timeless look of this venue, itself established in 1843.

The outdoor arch, standing atop a bluff overlooking Lake Ontario, is the perfect spot to get married under – whether in rain or sun. This wedding’s decor team was Blush and Bowties who, as usual, pulled together a sophisticated and elegant look for the day.

The dining room in The Toronto Hunt Club is spacious enough to suit a large wedding, and the foyer acts as a stunning dance space when the evening festivities begin. The head table is wide enough for a sophisticated and cozy floral layout, and the colour tones of the venue contribute to an earthy feel. The choice of linen napkins, lush roses, and eucalyptus along the table was a stunning way to outfit the venue and accent the beautiful, natural space nestled just outside of downtown Toronto.

If you’re getting married at The Hunt Club in Scarborough, you don’t need to leave the venue to get great photos – the golf course is a beautiful location to take a small walk around and get shots with the hills, the bluffs, and the lake in the background. The building itself is a beautiful backdrop and there are many locations indoors to get shots of the bridal couple.

The Arlington Estate in Vaughan

The Arlington Estate in Vaughan, Ontario is a great location for couples with large guest lists, looking for enough room to dance, play, dine and roam stunning gardens in the summer. The on-property pond is a great place to seek shade and quiet in the middle of a busy wedding day,

This wedding couple chose to use the indoor space at the Arlington Estate for their ceremony, and held their reception in the tent outdoors. This was a beautiful way to invite their guest list of 400 family members and friends into the most important day of their life.

Another wedding couple chose to use the open window space to give some natural light to the head table, allowing them to enjoy the outside views while spending time with their best loved people in the world. The wedding party fits beautifully along the window area with this head table placement, without needing to extend tables out front to accommodate your closest friends and their partners.

Rain or shine, the Arlington Estate gives great locations for couples photos on site. Under hanging willow trees, by the pond, or using the neighbouring wildflower field, couples are sure to get great shots on site. However, we do recommend picking an offsite location where you won’t be interrupted by guests and family peeking into your photos – we often recommend the Kortright Centre for Conservation for your photos if your wedding venue is at the Arlington Estate.

Those are the top three!

If you’re still in the market for a great GTA wedding venue in Toronto and have your heart set on an indoor location, those are the three we suggest taking into consideration. As you can imagine, that’s not all of the great locations Toronto has to offer – not even close. Keep your eyes peeled for some other hearty recommendations we have to offer in the months to come.
